Windows 10: SSD index ..?

Windows 10 Search Indexer usage, location and security

What uses the Windows 10 indexer? I currently have the index file location on a hard drive because the OS ssd has a warranty based on years or TBW. I do use another ssd for user files. Would moving the index to the other ssd increase performance in any
way? Is security an issue if the content is indexed on a partition with Outlook emails?

 

Does Windows 10 disable indexing when an SSD drive is installed?

I would like to know if Windows 10 has a different way of search indexing when an SSD is the primary drive on my laptop. Does it do it in the traditional way, or does it have a specialized way for SSD's or does it not index at all? I would Like to know
because many people say indexing on SSD's is not good for the lifespan.

 

Indexing will not slow down your SSD. However, most SSD's are so fast that indexing is not really required. Indexing also has the potential of increasing read/writes on SSD's and over time can affect (very, very slightly) SSD life. Make either choice, it will not have any impact on your SSD speed.

If you have that setting checked then you can search on the contents of (for example) Word or Excel files. So you can search for all files containing a specific word.

If you don't have it checked then you can only search on the names of files.

It will not slow things down much - I have it checked (as it is by default). You can also specify by file type whether to index file contents - by default .txt and .pdf have contents indexed but .jpg and .exe do not for example. This is set in the advanced tab of Indexing Options.
