    SSD no longer boots up

I had something weird happen. I was running a Windows 10 laptop with a one-month-old SSD. It was running excellently. I later booted from a portable Windows 11 OS on a flash drive. The Windows 11 OS displayed that there was a disk error on my SSD and automatically went to fix it. I then ran the W11 OS, did a few usual things and then shut it down. I then removed the flash drive and booted up the laptop in the usual way, however it would not boot. Just got a blank screen. I tried again. Same result. I pulled out the SSD. Tried to access it from another W10 and W7 computer. It showed something t

  2. Unable to boot Windows after cloning it to SSD

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I understand that you are facing issues while booting the PC after cloning Windows to new SSD. I would like to know what happens when you try to boot the PC to desktop using SSD?

The reason you are not able to boot the PC is that the files required to boot Windows are still recognizing the HDD as the main drive. I would suggest you to try rebuilding the BCD files and see if you are able to boot the PC using
    SSD.

Kindly follow the steps below to rebuild the BCD.

    1. Create a bootable media and boot the PC using the media.
    2. On the Install Windows screen, select Next >
      Repair your computer.
    3. On the System Recovery Options screen, select
      Troubleshoot
      > Advanced options > Command Prompt.
    4. Now type in the commands and hit enter: BOOTREC /FIXMBR

      BOOTREC /FIXBOOT

      BOOTREC /scanos

      BOOTREC /rebuildbcd
    5. Restart the PC.

If the issue persists, please get back to us with the results of the troubleshooting steps to assist you further.

    SSD no longer boots up

Windows 10 no longer bootable on SSD

    Hi

    So my current situation is

    • I have two drives (HDD and SSD), both with Windows 10
    • The issue I am having is booting from the SSD
    • The SSD is still healthy
    • I have not booted from this SSD for 1 year. But it is still accessible from my HDD

What should I do to enable booting from the SSD?

How do I extract the Windows 10 license from the SSD?

    Regards
