Windows 7 Ultimate installation keyboard and mouse not recognised (SOLVED)

    Hello all,

    1 x HyperX Fury (2x, 8GB, DDR4-2133, DIMM 288)
    1 x Intel Core i7 6700K BOX (LGA 1151, 4GHz, Unlocked)
    1 x Corsair HX750i (750W)
    1 x ASUS GTX 970 STRIX (GM204, 4GB)
1 x ASUS Maximus VIII Ranger (LGA 1151, Intel Z170, ATX)
    1 x Samsung SSD 850 EVO 500GB basic, 2.5"
    Corsair k70
    Razer Deathadder

As the title suggests I'm at my wits end. I have recently upgraded my pc and seeing as I was using Windows 7 Ultimate on my old system I wanted to have it on my new rig too. So I created a bootable USB using the .iso image I had.

First time round installing Windows 7 was an absolute pain, but after a day of struggling I managed. But while using my pc there were issues and so I thought it would be smart to do a clean re-install. So I ran the Windows installer while logged onto my pc and everything went fine until my pc restarted and the installation screen popped up where you choose the language and keyboard input.

My mouse and keyboard were not recognised and so I couldn't continue. I looked the issue up on multiple forums and made sure that they were plugged into the USB 2.0 slots, and restarted multiple times. Fiddled with the legacy options in the BIOS (as some forums suggested). Basically did everything. I have lost count of the restarts I have made and each time the keyboard and mouse were not recognised. Out of frustration I powered down the pc and started it up again, which I realise wasn't the best decision, but still the issue remained.

So I tried booting the installer from the same USB with which it worked the first time round. Still the same issue.

So is there anyone out there who would possibly know a solution to my dilemma? I will thank you indefinitely.
I would also like to thank you for taking the time to read this post *Smile SSD not recognised by windows 11 64bit install but recognised by a windows installation... :)

    *UPDATE: SOLUTION*

I got it to work by having either a bootable USB (or CD) with windows 7 on it + the instructions provided by 95Viper. I tried both the USB and the CD to make sure it was the solution.

I ended up disabling the XHCI Hand-Off in the Bios, and all the 3.0 USB slots under USB configuration. After restarting I could use my keyboard and mouse for the installation process. Once windows 7 was installed I restarted and enabled both functions again. No problem so far and lets hope it stays that way.

I hope others will find this solution helpful!

    Thank you everyone.
