Windows 10: SSD not showing up anymore next day after I formatted it

Discus and support SSD not showing up anymore next day after I formatted it in Windows 10 Network and Sharing to solve the problem; I put in a new SSD storage and knew to go to disk management to format the drive.     SSD not showing up anymore next day after I formatted it


    I put in a new SSD storage and knew to go to disk management to format the drive. It was showing up in finder until I came back to my computer the next day. I can no longer see the drive in disk management. I know before I formatted it the first time I could at least see its name in driver updater but now I cannot even see it there. Luckily it was just one day since I put it in and had not put anything on the drive yet, it is still empty.


    How do I get my computer to recognize the hard drive again?

    Run CMD


    1. diskpart
    2. list disk

    Then in the 3º step, put the correct number of disk in the list for the usb flash (if it's listed in disk 3, then you'll have to write select disk 3).

    2. select disk #
    3. clean
    4. create partition primary
    5. select partition 1
    6. active
    7. format fs=fat32
    8. assign
    9. exit

    with that commands you will format the flash drive in fat32, if you have a large drive you can select also "format fs=ntfs" in step 7.

    I have a new Dell 8900 with updated drivers and software. I have not added as SSD before and I am afraid I am missing something obvious.

    The drive shows up in the BIOS in SATA 4 port. It also is in the Device Manager under the Disk Drives heading as SATA SSD. It does not show up in the listing of drives under Disk Management.

    I know it needs to be formatted, but it does not have a drive letter assigned and I do not see how to get it one.

    I did try Uninstalling the driver under the Device Manager, it just found the same info after scanning for new hardware.

    Can you show me the steps of how to format the 1tb hdd for windows 7 64bit? How was I able to format ssd without doing anything to it. It recognized it like that.
