RAID SATA default in my system, change to ACHI for new SSD Boot drive?

These steps can be used in windows 10 to go back and forth from raid mode to achi, or achi to raid, mode depending upon what you need...

    • If currently installed, uninstall your RAID or AHCI SATA driver (for intel, intel rapid storage technology)
    • Basically open msconfig -> boot tab -> check safe boot -> restart
    • Go into UEFI/BIOS and set SATA mode to which ever one you want
    • Boot up into windows safe mode
    • Open msconfig again -> under the main menu tab (general) click the normal startup circle - > restart
    • Your system should boot into windows fine and you can install your AHCI or RAID driver.

SATA ACHI & Intel G35 mobo question

I wanna pick up an Intel G35 mATX mobo for a home office rig i'm doing for someone. It will be used for work and light gaming, no overclocks. I need to know what is the deal with SATA ACHI mode on Intel G31/G33/G35 boards, i dont want to set the SATA drives to IDE. I was under the impression that a SATA driver needs to be installed during the install of XP by pressing F6 to be able to use ACHI or RAID, but no driver is available at Intel's home page. Does this mean ACHI wont work with this board? Or i can still set it without the driver?

Dual boot - Windows 10 - Ubuntu - ACHI issues

Windows wil automatically install the correct SATA drivers when it boots, so long as there are no drivers already present. That's why you have to delete the existing drivers (RAID), boot into UEFI settings and change to ACHI mode, then reboot into Windows.

The problem is, though, there may be a different drive layout for RAID and ACHI, I don't know for sure. The UEFI may not be able to boot a drive originally set up for RAID in ACHI mode. But that would be at the UEFI firmware level and Windows drivers would have nothing to do with that.
