I noticed that standby memory doesn't clear up from time to time when I recently did an in-place upgrade from 1909. Anyone know why and if it's an issue with 2004?

[Question] Clearing Standby memory when free memory reaches some level

Why do you think it necessary to free standby memory?
The normal state for available memory is on the standby list, not free. Windows was designed to function optimally with zero free memory. I have often seen this with no issues of any kind. The ideal would be zero free memory at all times but we are not there yet.

I have tried a number of these memory cleaners (just for experimental purposes) and have been thoroughly unimpressed.

  3. Free Standby Memory without a Reboot

Does anyone know of a way to clear standby memory without a reboot?

I can't launch my HyperV VMs after doing other tasks in Win 10 after running tasks due to the lack of free memory. I would have enough memory (free + standby), but HyperV doesn't seem to count the standby RAM as available for the VM.

    Releasing Standby memory

This is the first I have heard of any issues with Standby list memory causing issues outside of games.
I know there were a lot of reports around 1809 of games having issues where the standby list didn't release memory and games would stutter. There are a few programs that can clear up this issue. I have used both and they do work but I only used it for games, never noticed any issues in windows applications.
ISLC (Intelligent standby list cleaner) by Wagnarsoft and Processlasso by Bitsum can clear the standby list automatically.
