Windows 10: Start Button, Display Setting, etc. No Longer Working

Hi,When I left click on the start button, nothing comes up. If I right click, and select for examples "Settings", nothing happens. If I right click on the desktop, and click on "Display Settings", it states that the file does not have an app associated with it for performing this action, etc, etc, etc.Believe this might have happened after a recent update.Appreciate your guidance on how fix this issue.Thanks

Start Button displaying but not working


The start button was working until there was a forced reboot (power failure). Then left click (normal click) over the start button does absolutely nothing. Right click brings up a menu but "programs" and also "settings" are missing and not included on this list. Search or Task View buttons do not work either with "normal" click. Does anyone have any suggestion or fixes?

What steps should be taken to diagnose a Windows 10 start button not working?

 

Windows 10 start button not working

Followed the steps as indicated. They actually made the situation worse.

First reboot after doing the listed steps, the start button would work but there was a 2 second delay before the start menu would appear. It was always instantaneous before. second, Edge no longer works at all. Edge will load and I can enter url, but nothing
happens.

Second reboot and start button no longer works at all (again). Edge still does not work.

Never had ANY issues with Windows 7. Should never have upgraded!!!!!!!!!
