    Start button not working after Windows reinstall


    After a series of blue screen problems I have done a complete reinstall of Windows 10 on my Surface Pro.

    Cortana talked me through the installation, but when I finally got to the desktop the Start button is not working. Left click does nothing. Right click displays a list of options, but the following do not work - Apps, power options, system, network connections, settings and search.

    The search bar does not allow me to enter anything. Cortana does not respond.

    None of the standard MS apps which were on my desktop (since I bought the Surface) appear

    I have tried a lot of things offered online with no success:

    scannow finds no errors

    ms-settings "does not exist"

    Cannot find path "C\AppXManifest.xml ….etc "because it does not exist"

    Any help gratefully received!

    Start Button displaying but not working


    The start button was working until there was a forced reboot (power failure). Then left click (normal click) over the start button does absolutely nothing. Right click brings up a menu but "programs" and also "settings" are missing and not included on this list. Search or Task View buttons do not work either with "normal" click. Does anyone have any suggestion or fixes?
