Windows 10: start menu and other apps not working

    whenever I click on my start button a blue message pops up saying 'Critical Error' and it asks me to sign out. I also can't use the search bar, Spotify or even go into my settings. Is there something wrong with my PC or is it just some sort of a bug? I would appreciate it if someone could help me with this.

    I found the following article, ran the suggested powershell command and my start menu is working again. Here it is as I found it:
    Go to Start menu button and right click on it. This will open the contextual menu, after which you need to select Command Prompt (Admin). Once Command Prompt is open, go ahead with the following steps.

    • Type and enter: Powershell
    • Type the following: Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml”}

    For issue related to Start menu, I suggest you to refer the post by “Ravinath P” from the link provided below and check if it helps:

    “Critical Error – Start menu and Cortana aren’t working. We’ll try to fix it the next time you sign in.”

    For issue related to updates, I suggest you to run the Windows Update troubleshooter by following the steps below:

    • Type “Troubleshooting” in search box and press Enter.
    • Click on “View All” option on top left pane.
    • Select “Windows Update” from the list and follow the prompts for troubleshooting.
