Windows 10: Start menu button not working on new user account

Just created a 2nd admin account on a W10 PC and

The Start menu button is not working on a new user account....still works ok on the original account. Done sfc scan now and it found some errors, now downloading replacement files.....hope that will work....did the tecommended re register the start menu and a registry edit, but they didn't work

My start menu icons aren't showing up properly!

I have same problem, the start menu is not working. when you click it , nothing happened. Microsoft edge and store icon are missing on the taskbar.

 

Start menu, win store and other things stopped working

I followed the steps by going to (accounts > family & other users) and couldn't add a new user either by singing in with another Microsoft account or by adding someone else. The buttons and links on the accounts settings aren't working when I click on it
just like the start menu and search buttons... etc.

I'd have added a screen capture but I couldn't open the snipping tool since I can't open the start menu.

That's an odd one - the more common complaint is the other way round: Star menu has stopped working on your main account but works on a newly created one (with the laborious fix of creating yourself a new account and moving over all your files, settings etc.)

Try creating another new a/c after the sfc/downloads are done. If that works fine just delete the first new a/c. It's not as if there's anything you need to keep from its user profile, so not worth the bother of trying to fix it.

 

Updated to anniversary update and now all ok......
