Windows 10: Start menu in Win11 closes automatically when opened after cursor hovers over other taskbar...

TitleHi Microsoft community,After the most recent windows updateKB5010414, I noticed that my start menu was behaving a bit strange. When I would click on the start button, it would sometimes automatically close. After experimenting, I found that this would always happen if you place your cursor on any taskbar icon/app and hover your cursor to the leftat a moderate/fast paceuntil you reach the start buttonand click it. The start menu will open and close as a response. This only happens if the taskbar icons are aligned to the left.I'm not expecting a fix for this, besides one from Microsof

Taskbar hides and shows itself after opening start menu.

Steps:

1. Using HDMI for a second monitor.
2. Open start menu using the icon.
3. Close start menu using the icon.
4. Click anywhere other than the task bars. (e.g. an open window, the desktop, even the first monitor's desktop)
   
5. Taskbar on second monitor slides down to be hidden.
6. Taskbar then immediately slides up to reappear.

If after closing the start menu (step 3), you click on the taskbar, then click outside the taskbar, this behavior does not occur.

Performing the steps on the main monitor's taskbar does not produce this behavior.

This has been happening for as long as I can remember using this laptop (~3years), with different nVidia drivers and Windows 10 updates.

 

Start Menu closes automatically when hover mouse over it

Click on start button. Move mouse up to menu. Mouse pointer briefly turns to spinning circle. Menu closes automatically.

Same problem occurs for Notification menu.

Same problem occurs if you right-click the desktop, choose Personalize, Settings window opens. Hover mouse over Settings window, window automatically closes.

Same problem occurs with Edge. Window closes when hover mouse.

Same problem occurs with Calculator.

I know it's not a problem with the mouse. Problem occurs when using the touch pad or an attached mouse.

All drivers are up-to-date.

My temporary work around is to use keyboard keys to navigate around Windows.

This is a new HP Envy 17" laptop running Windows 10 Home version 1803.

 

Strange behavior from taskbar-cursor interaction?

Arezal, tried your suggestion. Seemed to work when in Firefox open screen, but as soon as I placed the cursor on the minimized Thunderbird icon, the taskbar disappeared and wouldn't reappear with cursor hover???
