Windows 10: Start menu not working, settings crashes, microsoft edge crashes

Pretty sure all are working yesterday, haven't done much besides watching youtube. Windows 10.

Today, when I click on start menu, my mouse quickly shows a loading icon and nothing happens. I've been playing around in hopes it will help any technician diagnose this problem,


Here's the list of things I've tried in Windows:


Settings crashes, everything in settings that I try to open will crash


Microsoft edge also crashes


Search is responsive, but will not open app if I click on it. HOWEVER, if I right click an app and select an option, it will work. For example, I left click "steam" nothing will happen, but I right click steam, and click "library" in that pop up menu, it will respond accordingly. I can also open the files listed in "recent activities"


Corona is working, but will not open anything. If I say open firefox, it will just show firefox opening... and loading eternally. Also any option corona is providing, clicking on those also unresponsive.


I can open folders alright


Here are the list of things I've tried but did NOT solve the problem:


1. sfc scan responds with 100% integrity


2. pasting this "Get-appxpackage -all *shellexperience* -packagetype bundle % {add-appxpackage -register -disabledevelopmentmode $_.installlocation + “\appxmetadata\appxbundlemanifest.xml”} " in powershell admin

3. restarting windows explorer


4. rebooting PC


5. changing registry: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\WpnUserService] , changing start value from 2 to 4

6. forcing Corona to rebuild settings by pasting in run cmd: CD /d "%LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\Microsoft.Windows.Cortana_cw5n1h2txyewy"

Taskkill /F /IM SearchUI.exe
RD /S /Q Settings


Appreciate anyone helping, also keep in mind that I can't open settings at all.

1. By "Microsoft edge it is been collapsing", do you mean Edge always crashes?

2. Which function of Cortana are you referring to?

3. What exactly do you mean by "not able to access start button"?

4. Do you receive any error message?

New tab Microsoft Edge crash Fix


I got the new tab to open. The last step on this website: How To Fix Microsoft Edge Crashing Issues - Teradatariver did it for me. I think it would be better to have edge to have it's own settings rather than use Internet Explorer settings. I did a restore advanced settings and it worked.
