Start menu, Task bar Icons all fail to load, when logging in

Every time I boot and login. The start Menu, and all the taskbar icons fail to load. I have to open the taskbar, run explorer.exe and then restart it. Going in to the event logs I only seem to get the one errror:Faulting application name: Explorer.EXE, version: 10.0.22000.527, time stamp: 0x59dc9944Faulting module name: twinui.pcshell.dll, version: 10.0.22000.556, time stamp: 0xef868485Exception code: 0x80270233Fault offset: 0x00000000005edffcFaulting process ID: 0x1ff0Faulting&nb

  2. No Start Menu and Problems with Task Icons

    Hi,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community.

I understand your concern and will assist you to resolve this issue

    • Clicking on the start menu icon (left click) does nothing, Right click brings up a simple function list

      You can try these steps:
      • Open the Task manager. Here’s a tip: Press CTRL+Shift+ESC.
      • Click File > Run New Task
      • Make sure you have a check mark beside “Create this task with administrative privileges”
      • Type Powershell
      • Type the following in the Powershell prompt:

        $manifest = (Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.WindowsStore).InstallLocation + '\AppxManifest.xml' ; Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $manifest
      • Close the Powershell window
      • Reboot

    • Clicking on the File Explorer icon (task bar) does nothing. Right click does nothing.

    • Right clicking on any task bar icon, including open apps, does nothing
For these issues you can try these steps:

Method 1: I suggest you to run the SFC scan and check if it helps.

Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files: (Windows Logo Key + X and then click on Command Prompt).

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/929833

    • Several apps (Mozilla Thunderbird, Norton 360 specifically, have not been able to have been updated or re-installed. Norton support, using remote desktop app, gave up after 4+ hours of work today.

For this issue I would suggest you to run the app in compatibility mode

I would request to refer this link

Hope it helps. Keep us posted if you face any issues related to Windows in future. We will be glad to help you.

    Thank you

  3. unable to access task bar icons, start menu error.

done all of the above and below. Everything that has been suggested in this post, I have tried.

File explorer still does not load from the task bar or the start menu.

If I try, it hangs a second, then the screen refreshes. At this point I can then use the computer again, but does not run file explorer.

It will load from the desk top 'Computer' icon, but after a while(1 to 10 mins approx) it will close down by itself.

  4. Start menu, Task bar Icons all fail to load, when logging in

Windows icon at left in the task bar fails...

    .

The directions to fix this problem should read:

    • Go through all the motions to create a useless account.

Log Out and log into your usual account.
    • The start button will now work for left click
    • The task bar icons will now work for right-click.
    • When you hover over the task bar open icons, the images will not get stuck on the screen which used to make you hover over another icon in the task bar to get them to disappear.
    • Now you have to go in and figure out how to repair your Outlook because it got all scrupped with the new yet fake eddress but that is an entirely different operation.

P.S. How did my choice to use the unordered list end up skipping that second line?

    Is this another MS feature?
