Windows 10: Start menu/'Type here to search'/Taskbar lagging.

When I try to open the windows start menu it takes about 2-3 seconds to load and it is really frustrating, this also happens with opening and closing task manager, right clicking on the task bar and attempting to quick search something. Sometimes the 'Type here to search' section will lag out completely changing its font to a random font which I have not seen before. • When you say "taskbar search function", do you mean the Start menu search field?
  
• Are you getting any error messages upon accessing the taskbar search?

Meanwhile, to help resolve your concern, we suggest that you run the System file checker and DISM tool to fix issues with corrupted system files that may be causing the issue. To do this, follow these steps:

• Press Windows Key + X on your keyboard.
  
• Choose Command Prompt (Admin).
  
• Type or copy these commands followed by hitting Enter:
  
  sfc /scannow
  
  dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

Start Menu Search Missing

There could be changes or updates performed on your computer that caused this problem with your start menu search. Have you tried running the
Start menu troubleshooter? If you haven't yet, then we suggest running it for us to further isolate the problem. Check out

Please verify also if the search bar is enabled in the taskbar. To check, right-click the Taskbar, then navigate to
Cortana > Show search box as shown in the photo below:





If Search is still missing in the Start menu, then please run the command below in Windows PowerShell. Follow these steps:

• In the Cortana search, type in PowerShell, then right-click
  Windows PowerShell in the search results.
• At the command prompt, type in the command below and hit Enter.

Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml”}
