  1. Start Orb Right Click inactive?

    Hi

I just found that my right click menu from the start icon doesn't do anything.
It was working earlier, but now it's not.

I can start the stuff from the all apps menu.

Anyone know what is going on?

I keep messing around with it, don't know what I might have done.

    Mike

    :)

    Micrsoft Orbs

Orb for Windows - I would like to suggest something that I think everyone would like. They are called Orbs. Each Orb either on the Desktop on the Taskbar could be filled with any type of file or Shortcut. The goal however is create a more compact display
for filing systems. For example you have an Orb called Family Photos. You roll over the Orb and it begins spinning on its axis and grows larger showing you all of the files that are contained within the Orb. You then come to a polygon on the Orb that is labeled
Family Photos 2015. You click on the Polygon and you are taken inside of the Orb to view the photos. By moving your mouse or your finger on the laptop mouse pad controls the actual spin direction of the Orb. Once you stop spinning the Orb for five seconds
it reduces in size leaving the files that your selected on the Desktop. Once you are finished and click Close the files reduce to a smaller Orb and return to the main Orb. No more needing to create a hierarchy of folders that takes countless ticks to finally
get to the layer that you want. With Orb you spin the Orb to see what inside the Orb and then click. Orb would also be very helpful on the taskbar where you could pin an Orb that would have programs for game development that might include several graphic editing
program Shortcuts and the actually gaming engine that you are using instead of taking up more space on the Taskbar. You can of course choose how your Orb operates as well such as when you select it the Orb could unfold equal to the number of polygons that
are used on the Orb to create a flat projection that would then reassemble back into the Orb once Close is clicked. Or you could simply turn Orb off and use the old filing system of folders. The Orb could also come in Cube Form as well.

  5. Hi

Yes Windows + X opens the list, but I can click on any of the options and nothing happens.

Actually the only one that seems to do anything is "Run" and "Search" (that opens a search Metro style search window on the right side of the screen, charms bar style).

Have you installed something that adds items (shell extensions) to normal context (right click) menus?

  7. Hi

I haven't installed anything in the last day, but I'm not sure when it quite working.
I have a system image made when it was still working maybe tomorrow I'll restore to that, I've already done it once.

Everything else seems to work, I can open all this stuff from other locations.

Except I don't know how to open Command Prompt as Admin. without the link on the menu, in Windows 10?

I was doing that when I discovered that it wasn't working.

    Start Orb Right Click inactive?

Everything I can find on the Interwebs about this issue points to shell extensions, something being added to context menus.

I'll keep searching, in the mean time here's how to run elevated command prompt from Start Menu:

Search for CMD, then right click Command Prompt and select Run as administrator.

    run a system file check

    in command prompt type

    sfc /scannow

    hit enter, let it run

see if it fixes the issue

  10. Hi

The only thing that I installed that added a entry in the right click menu was Agent Ransack.
But I did that before I made my system image file and it was still working after I did that.

I did a system restore a few minutes ago, from my EaseUS TODO backup image and it's working again, I'll pay attention when I redo some of the things that I did since the restore and see if it happens again.

    Thanks for the help.

I tried to run SFC /scannow but I couldn't get into the administrator prompt at that time.
If it happens again I think I know how to do that now.

    Mike

Ps. I got everything back to where I was before the restore and it's still working, I made a new System Image of it the way it is now.

I think I'll make one every few days for a while, they don't take much space or very long to make since my Widows 10 drive is pretty small.
