  2. Unable to end/remove a process I think is a keylogger

I have a suspicion that the process "OSRSS", shown below, is some sort of virus, although I believe it is more specifically a keylogger.

When I check its file location, it directs me to "C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost" which, as far as I can tell, is a legitimate file in it's proper location. When I go to end the task via task manager however, I am denied access as the image below shows.

start up app called program thinking its a virus/keylogger tniLf.png

I have scanned it both with Kaspersky and Malwarebytes, and both tell me the file "svchost" in the location stated is virus-free. However I feel that they are incorrect, as I checked several other Windows 10 computers and none of them have a process called "OSRSS"

I believe that this issue occurred when I video game called "Old School Runescape", along with various related-programs I'm told, were downloaded to the computer. I've since-then uninstalled anything downloaded in the past several days that I could easily find. It is my belief, and perhaps a paranoid one, that this "OSRSS" loosely ties into this video game "Old School Runescape", or "OSRS".

My question effectively breaks down into three parts:

    1. Would both Malwarebytes and Kaspersky guarantee my computer is fine, and I'm just being paranoid?
    2. How would I remove this process from my computer entirely, assuming it is a virus?
    3. In a worst-case scenario, would resetting my computer to factory default solve this solution, or is this keylogger embedded in the files needed to run Windows, preventing this from being a solution?

  3. Protection Against Malware/Virus/Keyloggers

Hey, I don't know about that. Only thing i know about is the adblock plus etc...

But the thing is some sites have ads on their site... even if you have adblock on... because those sites seem to show it on the actual site... not like the regular ads you see... does that make sense?

Now im sure you all read and heard about people clicking on phishing links or clicking on things in their email... and people getting hacked. But i heard many times... if its some document that they ask to type in... say imagine a paypal phishing site where it would redirect to you a fake paypal site and you put your password in there... then your account would get hacked. But do majority of these malware/virus do that? Or do many plant keyloggers/trojans etc?

Because the keylogger is probably the worst thing that could be put in your computer right? Since i heard if you have a keylogger, the hacker basically sees every single letter you type in your computer and your screen and they could basically access your computer whenever they want right? Because if that is the case, isn't your entire computer compromised since say you use a password manager like lastpass or keepass... well the hacker is going to see your master password and thus have access to your entire lastpass or keepass database? Thus say you uploaded it to the cloud like dropbox or gmail... well they would have your dropbox/gmail password easily then right? Now imagine you use an encryption program for documents like axcrypt. Well assuming your password for axcrypt is typed in your lastpass or keepass... then you are basically screwed?

I know people say hackers send links but certain files... i forgot the exact format... but if you open the file... you would get malware/keylogger. What type of file is this? For some reason, i can't remember the name of it. But most malware/keyloggers... do they require you to open a certain file or not?

What if someone gave you a link to a site and you click on it... but then you just close the page a few seconds later after mistakenly clicking on it?

Could that one click to a particulate site give you

    Virus

    Malware

    Keylogger

    Trojan

I assume virus definitely yes... but what about keylogger? Because if you have a virus... does the hacker still see everything you type in your computer like when you access email or online banking or anything? Or its only keylogger/trojan?

Is there a way for a person to check if their laptop has either virus/malware/keylogger/trojan when using windows defender or malware bytes or malware bytes premium? Or are some hackers so good... that these programs wouldn't even be able to detect it? If so... which programs would work in order for one to check if one's laptop is virus/keylogger/trojan free?

  4. start up app called program thinking its a virus/keylogger

Virus - Please solve me how to deal with this virus

I know, but most virus scanner search for more than just viruses. And in this case it was a obvious mistake by one virus scanner calling the other's e-mail scanner a keylogger. In then end usually not a smart thing to have 2 or 3 different Anti-virus programs running at once.

Safe mode takes no addition effort other than a simply restart, so is always a good thing to try first; however, running a scanner from bootable CD is a good alternative to a OS reinstall.
