Windows 10: Start up taking way to slow

Hi my laptop has all of a sudden has had a start up problem. It loads my system account and everthing but once I sign in. The main screen takes at the minimum a whole day to load all my applications. I can use most of them once they are all loaded but I can't access my system files. If I restart it, the first time loads a black screen with only the mouse visible. And the second time it finally loads but then that when I have to wait a whole day if not more for everything to load. It just started doing this the other day and I dont think it did any updates when it happened. It's an alienware 51-M with an I7 and has worked absolutely perfect before this. Can anyone give me some advice to what this might be and the best way to fix it with out doing a full restart if that's possible.

Slow Start Up

Hi there,

Lately my laptop has become very slow and is taking very long to start up.

Could anybody suggest ways to speed up the start up.

My laptop is Dell 4520 and is running on Windows8.1 upgraded to Windows10 and has MSOffice2007

That's what the auto setting will do since you're over the 1333 mark it jumps to the next step which isn't listed or officially supported I assume by that ram.

At this point though I would suggest dropping the multi one step or .5 so that we can get something stable and possibly take the heat issue out of the picture for now.

 

Start/chrome/anything and it takes forever to load and cursor is slow at responding at times.

I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if it helps.



Method 1: Windows has a built-in troubleshooter to check and fix issues with system. I would suggest you to run this troubleshooter to check if the issue is with your System Maintenance.

• Press Windows key +X, select Control panel.
• Change the view by option on the top right to Large icons.
• Click on troubleshooting and click on the view all option on the left panel.
• Run the System Maintenance troubleshooter.

Method 2: I suggest you to start you system in safe mode and check if the issue persist or not.

• To start your system in safe mode follow the below steps:
• Press and hold Shift key and restart your Computer.
• Select Troubleshoot.
• Select Advance Option.
• Select Startup Settings.
• Follow the on Screen instruction.
