Start > Windows doesn't search for files in other hard drives

When I search for programs on the search function when you hit the windows button it only searches for files found on the same harddrive I installed Windows on (C: SSD 120GB).
I have all my other files, pictures games movies etc on my E and F harddrive.
However when I search for the names on the search bar nothing pops up, can I fix this somehow?

    :)

    Direct X problems

Did you try searching the hard drive for it. I seem to have two copies of the file on my system, both are dated 2008. So it doesn't appear to be a Windows 10 file.

Searching for a temporary file in File Explorer

I want to search for temporary file with a name starting with ~$

That works by searching the string "~<"~"

but only in a certain drive but not the others.

For instance, I have a drive D: partitioned from C:\. The above search string works.

It also works at my drive H:\ which is an external hard drive.

However, searching with the same string does not work (came up with no file) at C:\Users\myusername\OneDrive

    Why would this happen?

In general, is there a good and certain way to search for a temporary file such as the above. These are temporary files which typically get copied to my backup drive.

    Thank you!

Where are you searching from ?
If you search from ThisPC or file manager it will search everywhere. If you want a really fast and free search program "Search Everything" Everything Search Engine fits the bill perfectly.

Start > Windows doesn't search for files in other hard drives

My Start button has Search on the right-click of it but right beside the Start button is Cortana or in my case just the icon for it [a built-in customization]. The feature on the right-click menu is much the same as Cortana.
