  1. Starting yesterday my computer no longer acts like secure boot is active

Hi,I just noticed that secure boot is no longer showing as enabled. I only discovered this because One Drive was not letting me sign in. I checked the BIOS and it's still selected. I went to the motherboard's website and updated the BIOS to latest version. I then cleared the factory keys in the BIOS and cleared the TMP but Windows is still reporting that secure boot is not on. I contacted the Motherboard manufacturer and explained the issue but I'm really not sure if they will get back to me, however, the board is still under warranty. I also, tried deleting the folder in App Data Local

    :)

CSM/Secure Boot BIOS setting change causes Windows 8 to de-activate

I have a Windows 8 BIOS (non-UEFI) installation on a motherboard with UEFI and Secure Boot support. The installation was running smooth for over a month until I was tinkering with the Secure Boot settings. I changed CSM from "enabled" (which lets it gel with non-UEFI devices) to "auto"; and although Secure Boot was disabled, it had some default platform keys loaded. I cleared those keys.

The following reboot took longer than usual, and to my horror, Windows was no longer activated. Activate by Internet doesn't work because I've used up my key across two motherboards (unlock limit), and Microsoft India support has a lazy Monday-to-Friday work week. Is there anything I can try in the meantime? I've tried setting CSM back to "enabled," and loaded whatever default Secure Boot keys the setup program had.

  3. ACT Pro 2013 will not open in Windows 10

    Hi,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

The most likely causes on a standalone are a damaged or invalid .pad file or SQL is not running, or is damaged.

I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if the issue persists.

      • Click your Windows Start button, choose Run and type in actdiag.

      • When ACT! Diagnostics comes up, click Databases, the Database List.

      • Locate your database in the list, right-click on it and select Detach. Make sure you know the filepath to your database before detaching it.

      • When the database has been detached, open My Computer (or Windows Explorer) and browse to the location of your database.

      • Locate the .PAD file for your database [database name].pad and delete it.

      • Reopen ACT!...you will get a message that the last database opened cannot found, then will be taken to the Open Database dialog box.

      • At the bottom of this box, change the Files of Type to .adf, browse to the location of your database and double-click on the .adf file for your database.

      • You will get a message that ACT! will verify your database, click OK and ACT will reattach your database to SQL and create a new .pad file.

      • Hope this helps.

Windows 8 Secure Boot Feature: Not So Secure?

So Linux is switching to secure boot also? Or they have to because of UEFI?
