Startup Repair has been running for more than 30 hours and is still running

To try to resolve a black screen problem I hard rebooted into Repair Mode and launched System Restore. Up to now so far the restore has been running for 31 hours but the hard drive activity light is still flickering continuously. Some comments on the internet said that if you press and hold the power button to bring it to a hard stop, it may affect the hard drive or hurt it. In addition, "If you don't let System Restore to run till finish, a hard reboot will go right back into the same boot cycle to where it starts it up again."

Is it possible that System Restore keeps runnning "forever"? Are there anything else I can do other than sit and wait for it to run till finish hopefully?

    :)

    Run a program at startup

I know that is what you said but it doesn't work that way for me. Just tried it again to be sure. I did a restart and the Test1.bat ran after I logged on, not at startup.
Not sure what you did but you setup something wrong.

I even removed the 30 second delay and it still worked as I expected.
