Windows 10: Static DNS settings via GPO get lost!!!!

Hello,I need your help with the following issue:I want to have static DNS settings for my home remote users using group policy. My plan is this:I created a ps1 script with the Set-DnsClientServerAddress or netsh interface ip set dns command for the ethernet and Wi-Fi Interface of the clients. I put the script on a group policyThe user connects to his home network, gets dynamic IP Address and DNS address from his home router and gets access to InternetThen he logins to the company VPN and the group policy is applied after 120 minutes maxThe DNS settings of the clients network adapters change

Static DNS settings suddently not saving

Problem: When setting iPv4 static DNS address and clicking ok, the address doesn't save and ends up reverting to obtain DNS automatically.

What I've tried to fix it:

Connected to mobile hotspot- same result - static DNS reverts to obtain DNS automatically once trying to view websites. Seems to be an issue on the computer

Ran Mcafee total computer scan, 290216 items scanned, no malicious items found.

Background:

Relatively new Toshiba Satellite bought May 2016 running windows 10.

Static DNS address has been working fine until now. (google DNS) (also tried open DNS and it doesn't stick either)

Perhaps the local ISP here in South Korea installed something on my computer to keep me using local DNS?

Or perhaps something in the registry for network iPv4 configuration is stuck.

 

DNS problems with router

A couple suggestions I have for you:

Update the firmware on the router. Maybe it's getting into a badstate, and a firmware update might fix it. Or if you're comfortable with it, install a custom firmware like dd-wrt. Just make sure its supported on your router first.

Change your DNS to: 8.8.8.8, 4.2.2.1. Might help.

If none of these work, maybe statically set your DNS on your PS3/PC to the IPs you listed, taking the router out of the lookup procedure.

Last option, is look for a new router.

typing this in the command prompt as administrator:

netsh interface ip add dns “Wi-Fi” 8.8.8.8

got me 5 seconds of static DNS. then it reverted.
