Stats show Windows 10 managed to improve its market share last month

The data provided by NetMarketShare for the month of June 2018 shows that both Windows 7 and 10 have managed to gain new users, but Windows 7 remains the top choice on the desktop, at least for now.

Windows 7 was released back in 2009 and it remains the most popular Windows with a market share of 43.03 percent for desktop operating systems. In June, Windows 7 managed to improve its market share last month more than a successor. It appears that not all users seem ready to upgrade for the time being.

According to NetMarketShare, Windows 7 jumped from 41.79 percent in May to 43.03 percent in June. On the other hand, Windows 10 is up from 34.74 percent to 34.92 percent, the new operating system recorded just 0.18 percent growth.

The adoption of Windows 10 is expected to improve in the coming months thanks to the arrival of a new OS version.

Speaking of the old and controversial Windows 8.1 operating system, it has also declined the last month to 4.89 percent. As expected, Windows XP market share dropped last month as more and more users are upgrading to the newest version of Windows 10 or Windows 7. Windows XP is however still running on 3.96 percent of the desktop worldwide.

Microsoft discontinued Windows XP back in 2014 and it no longers receives any feature or security patches, as a result, Windows XP continues its decline.

The drop recorded by Windows 8.1 helped macOS 10.13 to become the third most popular desktop OS with 5.36 percent market share.

Windows 10 April 2018 Update is available for everyone and according to Microsoft, the April 2018 Update was the fastest-adopted version of Windows 10 since the debut of the OS in 2015. Microsoft also confirmed that Windows 10 April 2018 Update is business-ready and the company is making it broadly available for everyone.

Needless to say, Windows 10 April 2018 Update is one of the finest version of the OS and it also comes with a long list of new features and performance improvements.
