    Windows 10 1703 Creators Update - Steam client Bootstrapper has stopped working

    I had this problem on Friday, checked the disk, scanned the system. Unable to find a cause.

    Did a Microsoft system reset and told it to keep nothing. Back to factory 1703. Reset up eveything. System worked for one day. Now today Steam starts again with the same error.

    "Steam client Bootstrapper has stopped working"

    Tried compatibility modes - No change.

    Tried disabling Microsoft AV protections, Microsoft Firewall, Microsoft app protection - No change.

    Microsoft has a really serious problem on their hands. Windows is preparing to install 1709 at %45. Will advise.

    This is a VERY simple machine GTX 1080, ASUS Z87 Killer Mobo, and thats pretty much it. Has an old 80GB SSD as a secondary and 2TB HDD as primary.

    Would appreciate any and all suggestions.

    Steam Client Bootstrapper Not Working ~ Windows 10

    Interestingly enough I had this fixed for a couple weeks by deleting everything from my steam install directory except the steam apps folder and the steam.exe file. This no longer has any effect on Steam. Yesterday I came home to it connecting to my account
    then never opening the application itself. sometimes it doesn't even get that far. then I have to go into the task manager and kill the steam client bootstrapper (32 bit) along with several background processes it is running. (steam client service (32 bit)
    and steam client webhelper (32 bit)). Is this a steam or windows problem? How do I fix it either way?

    Steam Client Bootstrapper Not Working ~ Windows 10

    I know this question has been asked before but I think this might be related to Windows 10, and it's quite new. I installed Windows 10 recently, a few days ago, and everything has been working fine. But today I tried to open up Steam and it just would not
    respond. I tried again and again yet the same thing would happen. I did some research and I could not find a solid solution other than it just fixing itself. I don't know if I even want to bother reinstalling it because it sounds like that does not work.

    On a laptop with the same specs (which I will list soon) it seems to be working fine which is also on windows 10. When I try to change the compatibility from 8 to 10 it does not have a 10 option. I tried doing a Steam Client Service Recovery, and it has
    not worked. I got past the login phase but it just froze again.

    I have not done anything out of the ordinary recently as far as using steam

    Integrated Intel 4000 hd processor (ew)

    4 gb ram

    Dell Inspiron Laptop

    Original ---> Windows 8
