Windows 10: Steam games not launching, task manager freezing, but everything else works perfectly.

Hi! I’ve been having the strangest problem with my PC and am really not sure what else I could try.Brave browser first started to act odd; it only shows a white/blanc screen but I can still close the window as normal by guessing where the button is. Then I noticed my games won’t launch anymore: either nothing happens and steam shows the game running, or a window opens which freezes instantly. When trying to close it through task manager, it freezes too. It also does not show application icons, just grey squares. I’ve tried updating BIOS, drivers, and full windows reinstall keeping files.

I just bought and built a new PC and I am having some problems. I can open steam but when I try to run any games it launches and immediately freezes. I'll close the game with task manager but then it will stop responding and steam will say its still running. Then the Discord stops running as well. So weird.

I'm having a problem when I try to launch Steam games, as whatever game I try to launch doesn't actually launch. A message comes up about the game "preparing to launch" but then nothing after that happens. Some games give me an error saying Steam is not running at all, whereas others just do nothing.

I've already completed all the troubleshooting steps on Steam's website but none of them have actually fixed it. The only temporary fix that works is restarting Steam, but this becomes very annoying when I have to do it multiple times a day every time I want to play a game.

Any help on this problem is greatly appreciated - thanks

• Do you get any error message/code when you try to launch the game?

If the Steam games are not working in Windows 10 then, I would suggest you to contact the Games manufacturer for further assistance and check if the Game is compatible with Windows 10.
