Windows 10: Stereo Mix only works when output device is speakers.

Ok so I have a headset not a usb one and when I use stereo mix with the output device as my headphones, it just doesn't play out audio. I want to use stereo mix to play my computer audio out of my mic. If there is an alternative that works better for that I'm all ears.

Stereo Mix/Bluetooth Output

I have no idea what I'm doing when it comes to sound devices on Windows.
Basically, I'm trying to play music via Spotify and play Visuals via Plane9 or Winamp. My understanding is I have to use Line input using stereo mix, however no recording is happening on stereo mix. My output is to a set of bluetooth speakers.
How do I achieve what I'm trying to achieve? TIA

 

Output audio to multiple devices in Windows 10 (stereo mix is not working)

I have tried install the Realtek Codec and get Stereo Mix Back for Windows 10

But Stereo Mix is not working for my case.

I have two devices, a hdmi monitor with speaker and a usb 7.1 headset

I have tried set listen playback via both device, but none of it works.

The mixer cannot pickup any sound from any of the two device.

I also have tried plug in a 3.5mm headphone and listen to it.

The mixer can pickup from the 3.5mm headphone.

But both usb headset and hdmi speaker don't have any sound outputting.

If windows can't do this, can anyone please suggest me a software solution, thanks a lot

There is a software called "audio hijack" on OSX side can do this, i have tried on my macbook air.

Was planning to get the new surface laptop to replace the mba, but now seems i have to stuck with the air first.

 

Stereo Mix not recording anything

I have no idea why this isn't working.

I have disabled all outputs and inputs except for Realtek Digital Output as output and Stereo Mix as input. Both at 100% volume. Checking/unchecking "Listen to this device" doesn't do anything nor does connecting a headset through a jack. Realtek Digital Output shows sound signals but Stereo Mix isn't picking up anything.

I read that having an HDMI cable to a monitor bypasses the onboard soundcard, but shouldn't the onboard soundcard be used if you disable the monitor's speakers? My monitor doesn't even have speakers in the first place (although the output devices show it does because of another similar monitor model with speakers).

Using Windows 20H2.

What can I do to solve this?
