    Sticky Mouse syndrome

My mouse occasionally freezes and does not respond to motion nor button clicks. The freeze only last for a few seconds.

    I have a Logitech bluetooth mouse, M557.

This is nothing new. It has been going on "forever" and, since it only lasts a few seconds, I have just been putting up with it.

Does anyone else experience this? More important, is there anything I can do about it? I am willing to buy a new mouse if I must.

P.S. I thought I posted this yesterday but cannot find it!

    :)

    Hi,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I understand your concern and will assist you to resolve this issue.

    • What is the make and model of the Sticky mouse?

I suggest you to check with your manufacturer web site and download the driver latest drivers and install.

If you couldn’t find the latest driver, I suggest you to install the old driver in compatibility mode and check if it helps.

Follow the steps below on how to install driver in compatibility mode:

    1. Download the driver from the manufacturer’s website and save it on your local disk.

    2. Right click on the setup file of the driver and select “Properties”.

    3. Select “Compatibility” Tab.

    4. Place a check mark next to “Run this program in Compatibility mode” and select operating system from the drop down list.

    5. Let the driver install and then check the functionality.

Hope this helps. If the issue remains unresolved, please get back to us and we would be happy to help.

I suggest you to unplug and re plug mouse and check the status of the issue, further try the below methods and check if the issue is resolved.

Method 1: Run the Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter.

Windows 10 has a built-in troubleshooter to check and fix issues with hardware and devices. I would suggest you to run this troubleshooter to check if the issue is with the Bluetooth adapter. Refer these steps:

    1. Press
Windows key +X, select Control panel.

    2. Change the
view by option on the top right to Large icons.

    3. Click on
troubleshooting and click on the view all option on the left panel.

    4. Run the
    Hardware and devices troubleshooter.

    5. Restart your computer and check if the issue is resolved.

Further if the issue persists, try Method 2.

Method 2: Update the drivers for the Mouse.

Refer the below steps to update the driver.

    1. Press “Windows + X” and select Device manager.

    2. Select
Mice and other pointing devices and expand the driver icon.

    3. Right click on the driver icon and click on
    Update.

    4. Follow the onscreen instructions to update the driver.

Windows Update may have updated drivers available that may be relevant to your current issue. Many times, updated drivers are listed in the "Optional" section of Windows Update. Install any pending updates on the pc to check if that helps.

Hope this information is helpful. Please do let us know if you need further assistance, we’ll be glad to assist you.
