Sticky Notes disappeared on Ctrl + C

Hello,I opened sticky notes and selected a string and attempted to copy that content via Ctrl + C. All of a sudden all my Sticky notes disappeared. They are no longer in the notes list, and the empty list also synced to my outlook, despite the "Confirm before deleting" is set to On.What is weird, the sync is always on but I cannot find the deleted notes in my outlook. Thinking that, as I was intending to press Ctrl + C, there might be possible I pressed Ctrl + X or Ctrl + V instead, but either operation should not result in all my notes get deleted. This is very upsetting as I have stored some

    :)

    Sticky Notes

    Hi there,

I can understand the frustration - let's see if we can fix this for you!

Let's try a couple of steps:

Step 1: Recover Missing Sticky Notes from the File Location

When you accidentally delete a sticky note, the app data is still there. We can restore deleted sticky notes from a StickyNotes.snt file.

Open File Explorer on Windows, navigate to C:\Users\your_username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Sticky Notes.

Find and right click on StickyNotes.snt file.

    Select Restore Previous Versions.

Step 2: Recover Closed Sticky Notes from All Notes.

    Open Sticky Notes app.

Right click on Sticky Notes app on Task bar, then choose All notes.

A full list of notes will appear, including the one that you closed.

Double click the note that you want to recover, then it will display as a standalone note like all regular ones.

  3. Sticky Note Missing

    Hi KeithRawlings,

I'm Charles, an Independent advisor trying to help.

Let's see if with the following steps we can solve the problem:

1.- Open >> Sticky notes, when located on the taskbar (Right click on the option) >> Select: List of Notes, now check if your note is in that list.

2.- Follow the steps suggested by the Windows MVP in your article

    https://www.kapilarya.com/fix-sticky-notes-lost...

I hope the steps work for you

    Attentive to any comments

    Have a happy day

    Best Regards,

    Charles.

    sticky notes disappeared

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

We can understand the situation must be difficult for you when things do not work as they should. For us to isolate the issue and to assist you further, we’d like to ask you a few questions.

    • Was there a major change or an update on your system, prior to which you weren't facing this issue?
    • Have you signed in with your Microsoft account to Sticky Notes on Windows 10?
    • Do you see ‘Windows.old’ folder in C drive?

If you sign in with your MSA to Sticky Notes on Windows 10, the notes will be synced automatically. You can also check the synced notes on Sticky Notes web client. Refer this thread on

Question: How can I be sure all my Sticky Notes are backed up to my personal Microsoft account? (May 24, 2019)
and check all the replies and see if it helps.

However, you can also perform these methods and check if that helps.

Method 1: Recover Missing Sticky Notes from SNT File.

When you accidentally delete a sticky note, the app data is still there. Therefore, we can restore deleted sticky notes from a StickyNotes.snt file.

    1. Open File Explorer on Windows, navigate to
      C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Sticky Notes.
    2. Find and right click on StickyNotes.snt file.
    3. Select Restore Previous Versions.

Method 2: Recover Closed Sticky Notes from All Notes.

    1. Open Sticky Notes app.
    2. Right click on Sticky Notes app on Task bar, then choose All notes.
    3. A full list of notes will appear, including the one that you closed.
    4. Double click the note that you want to recover, then it will display as a standalone note like all regular ones.

    We await your response.
