Windows 10: Still getting BSOD after reset, then recover then re-install of Windows 10 after failed...

After KB4549951 update first failed after attempting to update in the program, my machine started to BSOD, giving a different common stop error code each time. Tried uninstalling the update, but that didn't fix it. After about 5 minutes or less sometimes immediately after log in I get BSOD. Tried to reset computer, but I get the BSOD at some point every time during the reset process. I eventually after several restarts managed to get the reset to go through, but it didn't fix the BSOD issue at all. Exact same issue when I did the recover. Then exact same issue when I did the full re-install. Several failed attempts then success but without fixing the BSOD issue.

What in the world did that update do to my machine? What am I supposed to do next if a full re-install hasn't resolved the issue? Please help!!!!

Windows Won't Load After Graphics Card Install

I tested the card on the new install of Windows on a different blank HD. This time, instead of freezing, I received a BSOD saying something along the lines of "Attempt to reset display driver and recover from a timeout failed."

I went to bed after that and never had the chance to reseat the card. I suppose that is the next step. If that doesn't work, I'm going to assume the card itself is defective and RMA it.

When you finish testing the Avast suggestion, make sure that you restart your machine.

Then if the issue persists, please return to the trouble shooting list in post# 89

I think there are three steps that remain; the WU troubleshooter, reset WU components, and manual WU reset.

 

Windows Updates failed to instal

I just did step one and they have just all installed.... thank you so much.... it was quite frustrating having that update window pop up every 5 minutes and failing to instal every time
