Still have trouble moving/deleting files even after all users given full permissions

This has been an ongoing problem that just will not go away . I own PERSONAL computers . They dont belong to anyone else and nobody else has accessto them . I have watched for unknown users and deleted them when encountered . Somebody needs to inform microsoft our hardware and files belong to theowners , not microsoft ! I have given full permission do move or delete files yet I keep getting annoying "permission" nonsense that prevents me from doing what I WANT TO DO ! Once again microsoft does not own my computer or my data !When installing windows first thing is getting rid of unwanted and in

Don't have permission to Move/Rename/Delete certain files or folders

Within specific areas on my PC (mainly on other internal hard drives), every time I wish to Move / Rename / Delete any file or folder, I am greeted with a message saying "You
need to provide administrator permission to perform this action
". Pressing continue reveals an access denied message, clarifying that it requires permission from what seems to be old local user accounts that no longer exists.

My current user account is tied with my Microsoft account that is not the same name as the old accounts.

Note that my current user account is an administrator and I do have User Account Control settings disabled. Additionally, any new file deposited into these folders will also yield the same result.

Here's a list of things attempted thus far:

    1. Changed properties/security settings to add Full control to my current user account; Windows still demands permission from old account
    2. In safe mode, copied all files into a new folder and deleted the old files; Windows still demands permission
    3. Created local account with same name as old account; Windows still demands permission
    4. Enabled Administrator account to manipulate files; Windows still demands permission
    5. Copied all contents to another hard drive, formatted drive with problem files and copied files back into place; problem persists although the copied files on the other hard drive can be moved/renamed/deleted.
    6. Taken ownership of files using advanced security settings, Windows still demands permission from old account

While I am able to manipulate any of my files as I please in Safe Mode, I REALLY don't want to reboot into Safe Mode every time I need to move, rename or delete a folder.

Do you guys have any remedies?

  3. When I try to delete or move files, asking permission from deleted user.

    Hi,

    Thank you for your response.

I suggest you to Enable built-in administrator,
create a new administrative user account and try to delete or move the files.

    Enable built-in administrator account:

    • Open elevated command prompt by entering Safe mode with Command prompt.
To go to Safe mode, use the power button on the sign-in screen and press
Shift (key on the keyboard) + Restart. This will take you to the recovery boot menu. Click
      Troubleshoot> Advanced options> Startup settings.
You then see a list where you can choose Safe Mode with Command prompt.
    • Type the following command: net user administrator /active:yes to activate the built-in administrator.
    • Login into the built in administrator user profile and create a new user profile with administrator privileges (steps given below).
    • Then lock your screen by pressing Windows key + L keys on the keyboard and sign-in into the
      Administrator account.
    • Disable built in administrator account by typing the command:
      net user administrator /active:no
      in the Command prompt (Admin).
Create a new administrative user account:

    1. Open Elevated command prompt by pressing Windows logo + X keys on the keyboard and select
    Command

prompt (Admin) from the context menu.

    2. Type net user NewAccount password /add and click
    Enter
    .

    3. Type net localgroup Administrators NewAccount /add and click
    Enter.

    4. Log off from the system and login to the new user account.

Hope it helps. Revert to us with the results, will be glad to assist you further.

    Thank you.

  4. Still have trouble moving/deleting files even after all users given full permissions

Files with no permission to delete

I can, I have done, and I still don't have permission to delete it (hence why in one of your earlier suggestions I returned the error telling me I needed permission from myself to delete it). No matter who owns it, the user group administrators that my account is part of or my user group, no-one has permission to do anything to the files except read them and those permissions cannot be modified as the option is greyed out. Who owns it isn't the issue, I need to know how to be able to modify the permissions on the files when no-one has permission to modify them
