Windows 10: Still misleading!

I don't think I have asked so many questions about the same subject! Despite the fact you can "get" the Microsoft PC Manager by changing regions I tried this today. I clicked on the link below which directed me to the "Store". I got the message "this app not verified do you still want to install". I clicked OK and installed without changing region from UK to USA ! To put my mind at rest could someone tell me if the link below is OK and did I do right? version 3.9.4.0Sorry to keep asking the same question!Brian Windows 10 22H2

Internet Explorer Cleaning up misleading advertisements

The Microsoft Malware Protection Center is committed to protecting our customers and their Windows experience. We use our evaluation criteria to determine if a program should be detected by our security products. As the software ecosystem evolves, so does our evaluation criteria.

We are currently updating our evaluation criteria to address new technology changes, industry trends, customer feedback, and our desire to help better protect our customers. We are working with the industry and our partners to understand and implement these changes.

One of these changes will enable our systems to better detect misleading advertising. There has been a recent increase in the number of online advertisements that are intentionally misleading in nature. We’ve found that these types of advertisements often try to convince a user to do something, the consequences of which they may not fully understand, such as visiting an infected website or downloading a program that can negatively impact their browsing experience.

We will enforce our updated evaluation criteria from June 1, 2015.

Changes to our unwanted software evaluation criteria

We are including the following updates to our objective criteria:
Advertisements: The advertisement should not mislead you into visiting another site or downloading files.
Advertisements shown to a user:

Must not mislead or deceive, or confuse with the intent to mislead or deceive

Must be distinguishable from website content

Must not contain malicious code

Must not invoke a file download

The following examples show some of the advertising types that are considered misleading according to our updated evaluation criteria:

Misleading downloads

Another example of misleading advertisements are those that prompt a download when the advertisement is clicked. This reduces user control over their browsing experience. The expected behavior is that the program will be downloaded from a product landing page, and not directly from an advertisement.

Indistinguishable content

Advertisements that make it difficult to tell whether a user is looking at website or advertisement content will also be detected as misleading. In many cases these ads are created so that a user doesn’t realize that they are looking at an advertisement.

Malicious code

Advertisements that include malicious or exploit code are already detected. However, our updated evaluation criteria is now more explicit. Such behavior is not tolerated.

Enforcing our criteria

When SmartScreen Filter is turned on, Internet Explorer will notify you about sites that contain an advertisement that is detected under our evaluation criteria. The warning will look like the following example:

Twitter will remove or label misleading COVID-19 vaccine info Tweets

As the world continues to fight the COVID-19 pandemic and prepare for the global distribution of vaccines, people continue to turn to Twitter to discuss what’s happening and find the latest authoritative public health information.

Earlier this year, we shared our approach around the conversation surrounding COVID-19 on Twitter and today we’re providing additional guidance on how we plan to address misleading information around COVID-19 vaccinations. Starting next week, we will prioritize the removal of the most harmful misleading information, and during the coming weeks, begin to label Tweets that contain potentially misleading information about the vaccines.

Our expanded approach

In the context of a global pandemic, vaccine misinformation presents a significant and growing public health challenge — and we all have a role to play. We are focused on mitigating misleading information that presents the biggest potential harm to people's health and wellbeing. Twitter has an important role to play as a place for good faith public debate and discussion around these critical public health matters.

Under our current policy, we already require the removal of Tweets that include false or misleading information about:

The nature of the virus, such as how it spreads within communities;

The efficacy and/or safety of preventative measures, treatments, or other precautions to mitigate or treat the disease;

Official regulations, restrictions, or exemptions pertaining to health advisories; and

The prevalence or risk of infection or death.

Moving forward and beginning next week, we are expanding the policy and may require people to remove Tweets which advance harmful false or misleading narratives about COVID-19 vaccinations, including:

False claims that suggest immunizations and vaccines are used to intentionally cause harm to or control populations, including statements about vaccines that invoke a deliberate conspiracy;

False claims which have been widely debunked about the adverse impacts or effects of receiving vaccinations; or

False claims that COVID-19 is not real or not serious, and therefore that vaccinations are unnecessary.

Starting in early 2021, we may label or place a warning on Tweets that advance unsubstantiated rumors, disputed claims, as well as incomplete or out-of-context information about vaccines. Tweets that are labeled under this expanded guidance may link to authoritative public health information or the Twitter Rules to provide people with additional context and authoritative information about COVID-19.

What’s next

Using a combination of technology and human review, we will begin enforcing this updated policy on December 21, and expanding our actions during the following weeks. We will enforce this policy in close consultation with local, national and global public health authorities around the world, and will strive to be iterative and transparent in our approach. We remained focused on helping people find credible health information, verifying public health experts, and updating our policies in an iterative and transparent approach.

Beware of 4k misleading advertising and SLI "Resolved"

There is tons of misleading info out there, that's just marketing and nvidia trying to sell more gpus at the cost of the consumer being the test subject.
