Still unable to specify network folder for desktop slideshow

Just installed 10240 or TH1 and I am still unable to specify a network location for the background pics. If this is a bug, I can't believe they haven't fixed it. Am I missing something?

    Slideshows

Select/create a folder for your wallpaper slideshow then go to Start > Settings > Personalization, or right-click on the desktop and choose Personalization. Under "Background," choose Slideshow, then specify the folder you want to use, etc.

  3. Can i have the same preview layout like window 10 slideshow lock screen on window 10 slideshow desktop background ?

    Hi,

You can have the same preview layout for your lock screen and desktop background slideshow as long as the photos are saved on the same folder. To change the desktop background picture to slideshow, please follow these steps:

    • Open the Settings app.
    • Click on Personalization.
    • Under Background, choose Slideshow.
    • Click on Browse, and then navigate to your slideshow folder that you have created to specify the directory.
    • Set the time interval. Under Change picture every choose your time preference of between 1 minute and 1 day.

After customizing the desktop background, you'll need to configure the lock screen slideshow settings too. Follow the steps given on this article and select the same slideshow folder:

    Personalize your lock screen
    .

Let us know if you need further assistance.

Still unable to specify network folder for desktop slideshow

Windows 10 is NOT a true desktop OS as is 7 or Microsoft Servers.
It is an ecosystem that is designed to sync to Phones and Tablets.

The settings app (WinRT) options have to be uniform for all synchronized devices.
Therefore, many of the standard Win32 based desktop features have been removed in Windows 10.

And they will not be returning.
There are edits possible in the registry.
    Cannot help there, sorry.

  6. Probably not. Windows 10 is still effectively a new rewrite of many of the applications and components, and so some features may be limited or only accessible by legacy methods. Give it time and it should show up in an eventual update, and maybe install the feedback app so you can ask for that feature.

That being said, I have my desktop picture library on my onedrive and it works. But you have to set your onedrive to store files locally or it will kill your internet.
