Windows 10: Stock apps not working?

I ha e a first gen surface laptop. I have not updated anything in the past 3 days, but all of a sudden my stock apps don't work. The camera and calculator say they are updating, but never get responsive. It has been 2 days since this problem started. The microsoft store automatically closes when I open it. Help please?

The stock messaging app has vanished off my Lumia 640

I did what was suggested, reset the phone to factory settings and did not use any previous back ups. I have done this several times, the stock app does not show up and it is not in the main list when you flick to the right. I can no longer use the phone
because I cannot receive text messages without this stock app.

The stock app disappeared overnight, it was there, then the next day it was gone...weird but nobody has come up with a solution, Microsoft has just ignored me completely....

I would suggest you to try running Windows store app troubleshooter and check if it helps.

Follow the below steps:

  Type troubleshooting in the
  Search area on the taskbar.
  
• 
  Click on View all on the left panel of the Troubleshooting Windows.
  
• 
  Select Windows store Apps.
  
• 
  Follow the on screen instruction.
