    Stolen information

Hi there,My son got a pop up on his laptop with a Trojan horse saying his personal information had been compromised. There was a number to call for Microsoft so he did. He is 18 and nieve. The person sounds like he was from India said that he needed access to his computer to do a scan. He allowed him to do that and also gave him his name, birth date, email address and back account number. The guy said that he was going to move my son’s money into a Bitcoin currency so that hackers can’t get it. Thank goodness I came in to my son’s room before that was done. I hung up on the person. I am worr

Problems recuperating information from a stolen phone.

    Hi there,

I recently had a bag stolen with my beloved Nokia 6320 in it.

As I could not afford to directly replace the phone with the same model I got myself a 6021.

I was hoping that I would be able to upload the contact list from the 6320 (saved to my PC) onto the 6021. However, when I attempted a Back Up I was only offered the possibility of Uploading Gallery or Text Messages.

If the two Contact Lists are incompatible, can I at least view my contacts list without having the stolen phone connected? At least that way I could recuperate two years of contacts manually... sigh...

At the moment, I do not know how to access information on PC Suite for a phone that is not physically present. Or even if that is possible? It certainly should be, shouldn't it?

Thanks in advance for your advice,

    The Ox

  3. STOLEN PHONE

If your phone is off then it was either shut off or the battery is dead (or possibly in a location where there is no signal).

If you are sure it was stolen then I suggest the following:

    • contact your provider and disable the SIM/service
    • You can still and should click the ERASE button on the page I posted above just in case someone does find the phone and turns it on. Hopefully you use a PIN code to prevent unauthorized access.
If my replies assisted you, please mark my replies as the answer.

Deregister Windows 10 on stolen PC?

Thanks for the additional suggestions. I did chat with a Microsoft rep today, and they advised me to activate the product key on my new PC which will deactivate the license on the stolen one. I asked if they could deactivate the stolen key right now, but they said they cannot.
