Windows 10: Stop and undo of an accidental unknown file op renamed all files to numbers

Sleep deprived and ill I fell asleep searching for a video to watch and woke up, mouse in hand, with some sort of large file operation going on in Win 10 looked like a large copy or move. I canceled not very awake to know what was really happening and ctrl+z undo. The 154 files came back but the names are now gone of the videos and each is now named sequentially "n.webm" from 1 to 154. Interstingly I had just had those short clips in a playlist and closed the program as I was searching for what to watch next and fell asleep. Unable to undo renaming files

I had nearly THREE THOUSAND MP3 FILES that I accidentally renamed and HAD NO ... WAY TO UNDO IT, SO I HAD TO DELETE EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM, DUE TO YOU NOT GIVING US THE UNDO OPTION ON THE MENU BAR.

I TOOK MASSIVE TIME TO COPY THEM FROM CDs I HAD TO GET RID OF (MOVING AND NO EXTRA ROOM TO STORE THEM) and now they are gone.

File Names changed

Were you renaming a file in that folder, and if so, hove you closed that folder since the renaming happened?

If not, press Ctrl + Z to undo the file renaming . . .

This happens when you are renaming a file, if all files are accidentally selected, all files will be renamed with a number appended

 

Play an incomplete avi file?

divfix might be able to help, if not, and VLC and the other suggestions don't work it might just be impossible for your files. Are you sure they're avi files for example, check them out with g-spot. Sometimes funny people rename rar files to avi and such.
