Stop audio device disconnecting? (Silly issue...)

Hi, my PC is connected from my Nvidia 1080 Ti to a soundbar by HDMI. Soundbar then passes video through to my TV. I don't have any audio issues when everything is turned on.

I've just updated to 1909 and haven't seen this issue before. If the soundbar turns off, once I turn it back on I have to manually either scan for new devices or run "troubleshoot sound problems". It comes back on straight away and everything is fine.

The way my setup is, if the soundbar is turned off there is no picture on the screen. Once the soundbar is turned on, the picture comes back but the audio device still has a red x and has to be sorted manually. It's not a huge deal, just a bit annoying.

Just wondering if there is a way to force this automatically, or maybe trick Windows into thinking the device is always on?

    Thanks.

    :)

  3. Audio device issue

    Hi Venu,

Incompatible audio device drivers are known to operate against the method that Windows 10 follows. First, uninstall the audio driver, then follow these steps to resolve the issue:

    • Right-click on the name of your PC at the top of the list of devices in
      Device Manager
      .
    • Select Scan for hardware changes to reinstall the device driver, or download and install the latest version from the manufacturer’s website.

Let us know how it goes.
