Windows 10: stop code: VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE nvlddmkm.sys

After Windows 10 update in October I get above error when launching any game from steam on my laptop Metabox (Clevo) P650RS
have tried multiple nvidia drivers (GTX1070) one that were fine before give error now also get black screen using any intel driver for HD 530 hybrid graphics, forced to use original driver for Intel supplied by oem .


before october update could always update to latest Intel and nvidia drivers. now nvidia drivers crash with above stop code error, and any intel graphics driver gives black screen after windows logo.


Have clean reinstalled windows 10 1809, 1803, 1709 and even 1511 builds, as soon as you go online windows updates and causes driver errors and black screen. use latest nvidia drivers, but forced use original Intel oem driver.


I get blue screen crash with any NVIDIA driver available on their website (V390 or later) or installed by Microsoft driver update from windows updates. I could use latest NVIDIA driver updates or Microsoft drivers up to September 2018. then in October a windows update resulted in stop code: VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE nvlddmkm.sys. when trying to launch any game.


Updating or downgrading NVIDIA drivers result same error , even known working previous drivers now give error. Using Display Driver Uninstaller DDU to make sure clean driver installed.


Also get black screen after windows logo using any Intel graphics driver or Microsoft update driver. previously could update Intel drivers also now none work except original oem driver. Intel_VGA_20.19.15.4531

only way to fix is to do forced shutdown about 3 to 5 times to trigger shut down recovery restart. and reload original Intel oem driver after uninstalling driver in safe mode.


I think its a microcode update (specter or meltdown vulnerability patch) causing issues with intel/nvidia optimus graphics drivers.

If you know which Microsoft updates included micro code updates in late September or October then i could try uninstalling them to see if it fixes my issues. since start of October i have been unable to use my gaming laptop to play any games. Its basically now a very expensive net book.


I have spent last 2 month clean installing multiple versions windows 10 and multiple clean installing of Intel and NVIDIA drivers. have also left feed back with Microsoft about intel black screen and nvidia driver stop code: VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE nvlddmkm.sys.

Video_TDR_Failure (igdkmd64.sys)

I tried the fix above and it only worked for a day then the same video_tdr_failure igdkmd64.sys appeared and restarted my pc. I have an Intel HD 4400 Graphics on my pc.

Anyone have any other suggestions?

I have already tried to install the newest versions of the video card from Intel which did not work.

I got the solution.

This vdo_tdr_failure stop code is showing because your system getting internal driver issue or your BIOS got crashed or get outdated . The issue solution is to follow some steps which is mention on the link given below and if still the problem occur then
go to your system official software support and download the latest firmware of your BIOS (according to the serial no) And update your BIOS. I am sure then after your blue dump gets completely solved.
