Windows 10: Stop Code: WHEA UNCORRECTABLE ERROR on New ACER Laptop 25th April 17

My Son Has Brought Me his Laptop used for watching cartoons on.
The Screen has a Blue background with white writing and a sad face icon and the following words
"Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart. We're just collecting some error info, and then we'll restart for you."

The computer has not restarted and could have been like this yesterday I cannot find out.

Windows 10 STOP CODE WHEA UNCORRECTABLE ERROR

I just got a new computer and on first start up I got this error-STOP CODE WHEA UNCORRECTABLE ERROR.I reset it to a previous build and it started up fine. Does that mean I'm in the clear and no more errors or hardware problems what should I do?

 

WHEA Uncorrectable Error message on Windows 10 Home

After a short period of usage, I get a blue screen saying 'Stop code WHEA UNCORRECTABLE ERROR'. What is causing this? I believe I have a defective version of Windows 10 Home. Has anyone else seen this? I have updated.

I assume you have his machine running again. If not, power down and restart.

In searching for your error they all came back as hardware error. Since the title of your thread contains the words New Acer Laptop I would make a note of the date and error. If you see this again you should use your warranty to have the device serviced / replaced.

You may wish to see if the Reliability History contains any specific details. I would also run Windows Update just to be sure and scan Device manager to see if any of the drivers are complaining (yellow triangles with exclamation marks.)

Thank you Ken for your interest. The Problem with the Acer Laptop has been solved. I did notice that the power light was indicating low, so I charged it a little and took it back to Argos where it had been purchased 35days earlier, Itself a replacement purchase for a previous Acer also about 35 day old when I got my money back and bought the current one.
I kept the screen on blue as I wanted to show the manager the blue screen and message, however in the shop I left it with the manager and went to my car to get the receipt, on return the manager had press the buttons and it appeared Ok, Took it home again. Apparently solved!

However My big Problem is still My Medion PC of a few years old.
My Problem is that I have so much data going back a very long time from early Windows that I cannot risk just feeding it into a problem solving set up and one day find some docs that may have been moved many times finding them vaporized, as the long links could have been part of the problem. I did try AVG, as in the past they have taken over my computer and solved a problem before now. But they say the Problem is with Microsoft. I think so too. It looks as I have an App index blown up and placed over my Folders-I cannot modify it at all - Make it smaller etc. to expose my Desktop. I can on a slightly longer roundabout way still access my data, I did also put a message on the Microsoft website, but got no reply.
Out of interest I will reply to the thread with a two screen shots if I can. Just to let you and others see the Problem and may recognise where this "app index" has originated from it looks similar to my previously index that could be popped up when wanted and removed with a click on the desktop screen. But it has also taken out my taskbar.

A BlueScreen Of Death (BSOD), Windows caught a fatal issue and shutdown the system to prevent problems.
WHEA = Windows Hardware Error Architecture, as Caledon Ken says it means that Windows has caught a hardware error although it doesn't have to be a hardware issue per se.
However, with just a single crash it is nothing to worry about. Usually a small corruption in the data stored in the RAM which is wiped after a reboot.

 

How can I Paste a word document containing two screen shots into a reply.

 

In some browsers, like Google Chrome, you can just paste (ctrl + v) the screenshots in the editor *Smile

 

axeO I could not show these screen shots from word I had to use the email attachment and a copy of the image saved from the paint Program after selecting and attaching - only a line of Code was displayed and was transformed during the sending

If I might add, it looks like Tablet mode. I threw one of my devices into tablet and I get the same task bar, arrow on left, etc.

To disable Tablet mode, click on Notification icon, very right, find tablet mode and click. If it is on it will be blue, no colour it is off.

If as axe0 states it is full screen, start=>setting=>personalization=>Start menu. Shut off full screen.

Thank you Ken, I was in Tablet Mode. my folders are now as they should be
Thank you axe0 I was in start menu full screen. I have now shrunk it back so that the menu popup width is normal, about 20% of the screen width.

 

Very cool, glad the forum could assist. Interesting that this happen to another member today. Small world.

 

It's Magic I have had to Crawl under the Tablet Screen for a good month dealing with Important matters- I can only assume that The MS Program 3D Builder has been written for a touch ScreenSystem and has a revert to Tablet instruction when Uninstalled, I had read about problems others had uninstallling it, When I saw the Uninstall button - I thought what could be easier than that. Then -Pow! as it reverted to Tablet Screen. That's why I copied the screen, hoping it was recognised.
