Windows 10: Stop dwm.exe from picking up xbox360 usb resource

Hey everyone, I’m part of the niche windows gaming handheld community. These devices have a built in Xbox 360 controller. Some of them have firmware controlled mouse modes. This is convenient because of using external controllers and other little nuisances. Some don’t.On windows 10 I could use handle.exe to close resources tied to the usb device. I could even disable the controller without a restart by programming a disable after the resources were freed. Dwm.exe was one of them and would cause a screen flicker but no other negative consequences were noted.On windows 11, closing the dwm.exe re

My Xbox360 controller is not recognized

When I plug in my Xbox360 controller, I get a message saying the USB device is not recognized. The Controller is listed under "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" as "Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)" Under Properties it says

"Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)

A request for the USB device descriptor failed." Is there a solution to this problem? My friends would probably kill me if I tried to play Dark Souls with a keyboard

I just put my PC to sleep with the xbox360 controller plugged in and woke it up again. here are the statuses of the other plugged in USB devices, including the controller.

Device: Logitech Download Assisiant (Gaming Mouse G600)

Status: Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)

Device: USB Mass Storage Device

Status:

This device cannot start. (Code 10)

I thought i should add since my searching has revealed that some third party Xbox360 controllers can be used on PC's, that my controller is a Genuine Microsoft Product, not one made by a third party or a 'counterfeit' controller.
