Windows 10: STOP Photos from autorunning when I connect a Camer

This is driving me nuts. I use proprietory software for a camera Canon when I plug in via USB the Canon software used to loads and lets me select a number of helpful options, primarily, download unsaved images, i.e. it 'remembers' images saved previously.Now Win 11 has taken it upon itself to open the awful photo app and then proceed to open / list ALL the images on the camera, no thank you.1. How can I specify the PC uses the Canon s/w what the camera is connected on USB?2. How can I KILL Photo app?It is NOT up to Microsoft to force me to use something I do not want, I am quite happy

How can I remove this virus remnant?

I was also going to suggest Autoruns.

Check to make sure it isn't attaching itself to explorer. It should be the 3rd thing listed in Autoruns, the listing for the Shell. It should just be Explorer.exe. If it is anything else, that might be your problem.

• If you want to return AutoRun functionality, just delete the NoDriveTypeAutorun DWORD value.

Photos / Edit Stopped Working

This seems to be a hiccup with the application's software. What you can try is to do the following steps which will reset the internal state of the Photo app:

• Press Windows button + R.
• Type: %appdata%\..\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Windows.Photos_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState
• Delete all the contents of that folder
