Windows 10: Stop scrolling when I stop moving my mouse wheel please.

So, for example, I open the Bluetooth settings on my computer, and I use the mouse wheel to scroll down to the list of devices so that I can click on one of them, and then hit the connect button.

The problem is, I always end up having to "chase" the thing I'm trying to click because when I stop rolling the mouse wheel, the scrolling doesn't actually stop --- it has this stupid inertia where it has to slow down before it comes to a complete stop.

Is there a way to turn this behavior off? I want the scrolling to stop when I actually stop scrolling, not slow down first like I'm hitting the brakes on my car as I roll to a red light.

Standard MS Mouse scroll wheel just stopped working

There are several similar posts to this, but in my case I've got a standard MS Mouse which has been working fine for a couple of years. My copy of windows 10 was installed at least 6 months ago and is kept up to date. I've not installed any special software
that might affect a mouse. In the last 2-3 days the scroll wheel has partially stopped working. normal up-down scroll has stopped in all programs. Clicking on the scroll wheel gives the alternative cursor that causes the screen to scroll by moving the mouse,
but I hate this mode, it's far too sensitive.

I've tried the usual fixes as summarised here (rebooting, checking the settings, deleting and reinstalling the device)

which are duplicated in this forum, but to no avail.

I suppose the mouse could be faulty, but has anyone got any ideas before I go out and waste money on another one?

 

Microsoft Studio Mouse wheel stopped scrolling

A while ago, my Microsoft Studio Mouse's scroll wheel stopped working. I checked the drivers and they are up to date. I tried to change the characteristics from "one screen at a time" to "multiple windows at a time" just to see if changing the settings
would wake it up. No luck. I changed the batteries to make sure it was fully powered. No difference. How can I get the scroll wheel working again?
