Windows 10: STOPCODR????

I have an HP Envy 360 convertible 15m-bp1xx running Windows 10 Home version: 2004 build: 19041.508. I have had no problems with this pc until i asked for assistance in getting it to stop asking me to create a new password. i was given info to change the regedit which i did. I am now having MAJOR PROBLEMS with my pc. Suddenly i am getting the 'blue screen of death'. It has shut down on me 3 times in the past hour. It says that it has encountered a problem and needs to restart. It is also telling me that if i have questions i should look at https://www.windows.com/stopcode. And if i talk to a support person i should give them the following STOPCODE: PEN REFERENCE COUNT. Does my changing the regedit have anything to do with this? What is the problem and what is a stopcode. and why is this happening all of a sudden. This is a fairly new pc and very expensive. How do i fix this? This is EXTREMELY TROUBLING. HELP!!!!
