  1. Stopping Windows Update (Windows 10)

Hello, I work for a large organization and in order to ensure the maximum amount of work time for employees, I must postpone Windows updates until the holidays. I've disabled the Windows Update service and also the Windows Update Medic service through the use of service.msc and registry editor respectively, but every time I turn off these computers and turn them back on again, the computers start updating anyway and they will often say "Update failed" and restart again and again, which takes up a lot of time. When I look at the 2 services again, they have been turned from disabled back to Manual again. Is there anyway I can effectively stop Windows update completely and permanently? Thanks.

    :)

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

That doesn't stop windows update from grabbing them on next run, at least it didn't back in the RTM days. It simply stops a secondary process from installing them immediately.
