So I just got a brand new laptop, and it finally has good enough specs for me to game. So naturally, I installed a couple games, Rainbow Six Seige, Minecraft, CSGO, and other small applications, less than a gig each. I went to go install GTA V but it says I need 80 GB of space and somehow I've used 280 GB of space but that can't be right. I know windows sets aside some storage for the OS and other features, but from what I've read it's only about 10 GB and my PC say's I've used around 180 GB which seems reasonable, but It' wont let me install a 80GB game on my extra 150+ GB of space. Any help on what to do?

  2. Drive storage amount

    Hello Leonard,

Welcome to Microsoft Community and Thank you for posting your query.

What is the size of the D drive? How much free space is available on the D drive?

Disclaimer: Before resizing the partitions, back up the data to external hard drive or flash drive etc.

Disk Management can expand the partition, but there must be some unallocated space next to the partition.

Log on to your Windows 10 PC with an administrator account. (The process of creating partitions requires administrative privileges on the computer.)

    • Once logged on, right click on the Start button and select
      Disk Management.
    • In the Disk Management screen, just right-click on the partition (D drive) that you want to shrink, select shrink volume and enter the amount of space you want the partition to shrink.
    • Now if you see the unallocated space next to the E drive (the unallocated space should be located right side of E drive), Right click on the (E drive) partition that you want to extend and select extend volume, Enter the amount of space you want the
      partition to extend.
If the above steps doesn’t work, you may refer to the suggestion given by “Phoebeby” in the below link to resize other partitions and check if it helps.

    Resize Windows 10 System Partition
