Windows 10: Storage and partition issue in windows 11 OS

I right clicked on my C-Drive from the partition menu and the extend volume option is not available . what may be the possible reasons behind this? provided that I dont have any bitlocker recovery key for my account

W7 Hard drive partition issue

to get rid of that 100 meg windows partition that setup creates for you on a new install on a blank hdd:

- press shift+f10 when on the partition management screen in setup <-- this opens a command prompt
- diskpart <-- start the windows command line partition management tool
- list disk <--- list the installed hdds in this computer for the next step
- select disk 0 <- might have to replace 0 with the number of the correct disk
- clean <-- this will erase all data on the disk you selected one step up- dont use the wrong disk!
- create partition primary <- creates a primary partition taking up all space on the drive, adjust the command if necessary
- exit, exit to exit diskpart and the command prompt
- click refresh in partition manager and select your newly created partition and install to that

 

Partitioning a hd for os/storage

How do you partition a hard drive say 320gb, 250gb for the os, and the rest for storage? So if my os crashes ill still be able to retrieve anything stored on the rest. Like say if im booted up in vista and I want to save a document to the other partition how would i do that?

so format the drive to ntfs for 30gb for the os, install it, then partition the rest of the drive to ntfs and leave it like that dont install the os? then when i install stuff choose drive d on the hd, and the programs will work?
