Windows 10: Storage spaces direct windows with SSD and HDD

Good morning,I am considering moving to Hyper-V and Storage spaces direct, from vSAN and I was possible if the following scenario is possible. I have two servers, each with 3 HDDs and 3 SSD and one server that would be used as a Quorum and management. When node 1 or node 2 fails, the vms are migrated to the second one. I am confused beacuse of the Storage bus caching, that is required for mixed scenarios and can't be used with failover servers.

Storage setup with a SSD and HDD

Hi

I have just purchased an HP Pavillion Desktop with a 256GB SSD and 2TB HDD, I have initialised windows, choosing to use OneDrive for backup and storage (I have 1TB cloud storage with 365) and also updated windows and drivers. I have not transferred
any data from my old pc yet.

I now wish to setup the pc to have the operating system and program files on the SSD as they are currently and all my Files/Pictures/Music etc on the HDD but I am unsure of the correct procedures and order in which to carry them out. I also want to
continue using OneDrive for backup and file access from other devices.

I am aware of the following:

• The OneDrive folder is currently on the SSD and is backing up the default Desktop, Documents and Pictures. I wish to move this folder to the HDD but I am not when to do this, looking at the steps below, to prevent any sync issues
• I know I can move my user folders, Documents, Pictures etc to the HDD by changing the location of these from C: (SSD) to D: (HDD), leaving the User/Username folder on C:
• I have also noticed that in Settings/System/Storage I can 'change the location where new content is saved' for these folders, what is the difference between this and moving the location of the folders as detailed above.

Can anyone advise on the best/correct method of setting my system up going forward?

SSD with USB interface for Storage Spaces

The Storage Spaces with the USB HDDs has been removed, thank you!

Then I tried creating Storage Spaces using USB flash drives that I happen to have handy, but seemingly against what Microsoft says in the given link (...can use...USB drives...) Storage Spaces on Windows 10 cannot use USB flash drives.

Now I am looking into creating Storage Spaces using SSD USB drives that I would have to buy, I don't have them handy.

So again, returning to the original issue in the original post, does anyone have actual experiences using SSD USB drives for Storage Spaces?

 

Windows 11 and Storage Spaces / Tiered Storage

I have Windows 11 Pro (not Workstation or Enterprise) and I would create a Storage Space with the "Manage Storage Spaces" and I add 3 drives into a Simple (non-mirrored/non-parity) volume, 1 NVMe SSD and 2 HDD's, would this automatically make the Storage Space Tiered, e.g. WIll it start creating a "heatmap" of data that is used more often and move this automatically to the faster SSD and leave the unused data on the HDD's or is this not possible?
