Store apps data/configuration files after uninstall?

When uninstalling store apps, will this also remove any data/configuration files associated with the app?

The reason I ask, I had a working Twitch app, Unstream. Lately this app only partially works, I can open streams from the notification but launching Unstream from the start menu opens a window and immediately closes it. I tried uninstalling the app but problem persists. I just want to make sure that I have completely uninstalled it before I chalk it up to a bug or some new incompatibly with my system. Trying to run it on a desktop PC, if that makes a difference.

    Thanks.

    :)

  3. restore apps

    Hello,

Unfortunately, apps after reset can't be stored. You must have opt for 'keep files, apps and data/settings' option while performing reset.

    Regards.

Store apps data/configuration files after uninstall?

    Hi, unversal app data:
    Open
    C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Packages\
and then the folder for your app (if it still exists after uninstalling it.
    That's where you'd find that app's data.

If the folder has gone, then uninstalling the app has removed its data.

    That's what I understand...I could be wrong.

Thanks for the info, I uninstalled again and it deletes the folder it created in \AppData\Local\Packages\ during the uninstall. When I reinstalled it says "Restoring user data" or something like that and my problem remains, where launching the app loads an empty window then disappears. Notifications still launch the streams however. What I don't understand is I did not need to do anything, if uninstalled it should not remember my Twitch login credentials so clearly its pulling the data from somewhere.

    Hi, it's not the registry:
As you can imagine, this drastically changes how Windows 10 applications must be developed. From a user perspective, the most exciting aspect of containerized apps is the death of Windows Rot. AppX apps never install registry keys to the system registry, in fact they aren't allowed to. Instead, each application's registry files will be installed in a unique hive that can be fully, and safely uninstalled.

This confirms the idea that data should be destroyed on uninstalling one:
Store and retrieve settings and other app data

Could the data be synced via your MS live id?

Thanks for the information, going to call this one a bug that was introduced in one of its updates and hope it gets fixed in a subsequent patch.
