    Storing pictures in MS Photos

I sought an answer to this question before but perhaps I didn't word it well.I am scanning a collection of photographs that was years in the making, and I want to store them in several folders my choosing. I don't want the app to decide where to place them. Can this be done?

    :)

Transferring pictures from MS Photo gallery to Photos in Windows 10

Thanks for the suggestions. While exporting MS Photo Gallery contents to the Windows 10 Photo App can't be done directly, I stumbled on a way to do it indirectly.

    1) Open MS Photo Gallery

    2) Click on "select all"

    3) Click on "OneDrive". A page titled "Publish on OneDrive" will appear

    4) Choose and enter a title in the blank

    5) Click on "Publish"

I followed the above procedure and after the nearly one hour it took to download 2298 pictures, voila, they all appeared in the Windows 10 Photo app!

Where from does MS ‘Photos’ takes pictures and videos taken by iPhone ?

    Hi,

    • On my Desktop PC Windows 10 OS is installed.

    • My cellular phone is Apple iPhone 6s.

    • I photographed on it thousands of pictures and videos.

    • By mistake, after purchasing the iPhone, I didn’t change the default settings:

‘Settings’ > ‘Photos and Camera’ > ~ Improve the performance of storage in the iPhone

    • To be:

‘Settings’ > ‘Photos and Camera’ > ~ Upload and keep the original files

    • The result is:

      • Pictures and Videos are kept in the original size / volume on Apple’s iCloud.

      • Pictures and Videos are compressed
by the iPhone OS – on the phone itself (iOS 10.2.1).

      • That is for the purpose of saving memory usage.

    • Now I would like to backup all taken by the iPhone on to my MS PC

= in the original, full size !

    • On my MS PC I see the ‘Photos’ application that is included in Windows 10.

    • I don’t know that application and I never used it.

    • Lately I noticed that in the Photos tile, located in the Start-Up menu, Photos located in the PC hard drive and also others, taken by the iPhone, appear automatically !!!

    • Opening the ‘Photos’ application >>> a mix of the above is seen.

    • I don’t remember that I changed any relevant settings while installing Windows 10 OS.

    • Also: I didn’t ever Installed or Connect my PC to MS OneDrive.

    • >>> How can I know from where the pictures are taken into ‘Photos’ ??? !!!

      • Directly from the iPhone = Compressed, or

      • From the Apple iCloud = with the original’ full size

    • >>> Where and how can I set definitions / settings about the sources that ‘Photos’ will use to get pictures and videos ?

    • >>> Is the idea to back up iPhone stuff to MS PC hard drive using ‘MS Photos’ a good one – or you suggest a better way ?

    Many Thanks,

    Adar.

    Storing pictures in MS Photos

Lost default photo viewer after profile rebuild

Thanks Brink. I've tried those steps before i started searching Google. After the profile rebuild i don't have the Photo app listed to choose to make it default in either the system settings for default apps or the Open With option.

I can't even find it doing a search. Seems to have been removed somehow with the profile rebuild, which doesn't make sense.

Might be helpful to list what i've done Storing pictures in MS Photos :) I've done the open with check, the choose default program in the system menu, tried that in device manager default programs also. I've checked the programs and features Turn windows features on/off and it's not listed there (never thought it was but that was a suggestion), searched the MS Store, it's not listed there either.

I don't like playing in the registry unless i have defined steps and haven't found anything for this yet, just the Win7 version like in my OP.
