Storport.sys and some unsavoury High DPC Latency

I come to you today, distraught, frustrated, but mostly confused. I am having some serious issues with high DPC latency.

I recently built a new computer within the last 2 months and have discovered a nagging issue that has yet to be solved.

    I'm talking about Storport.sys.

The computer runs great, plays games and launches my DAW ableton Live with no problems.

Every couple of hours or so, the system will hang up for a sec, followed by distorted audio, bit-crush-like sound quality, and sometimes a laggy mouse response. I have to unplug my Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 from the USB port and plug it back in to make everything sound proper again. When it first was booted up after assembly, I would notice opening Task Manager would cause the system to severely lock up and lag, way beyond usage and required a hard reset.

Here are a list of things I've tried to solve this issue:

    • Installed LatencyMon to identify the culprits of the lag Storport.sys
    • Swapped hardware cables, as well as swapped both M.2's to different ports
    • Freshly installed windows, with nothing other than keyboard and mouse plugged in to test the latency
    • Unplugged my Sata Drives and one M.2, booting and using only one M.2
    • Run memtest on a USB drive and tested Ram
    • Checked all my disks and their health, scanning for issues
    • Disabled USB 3 support on the mobo, and then re-enabling it after it didn't make a difference
    • Updated drivers using Driver Booster/GeForce Experience/AMD chipset
    • Rolled back AMD SATA controller drivers to see if there is a compatibility issue there
    • Updated ASUS bios and modified the tuning profile OC Tuner/Basic for variance in case of performance issues
    • Changed settings to High Performance and no sleeping in the Power Management page of Control Panel
    • Reset CMOS battery

LatencyMon would report a DPC count of over 100,000 from Storport.sys alone.

So, fellow PC tuners and builders, I have to ask; what gives? Can someone help me with this dilemma? I wish this was a pre-built PC only on the condition that I could reach out to the company and have them diagnose this tragedy. Is it a bad motherboard? Bad set of wires?

    :)

  2. DPC Latency with Storport.sys and Wdf0 1000.sys

Sorry when I went to post it looked much better than it does there.... So I can see how that wasn't the greatest piece to look at.

Here is the screenshot you requested.

    Power Plan Settings: High Performance
    Turn off disk after: 20min
    Sleep/Hibernate: Never
    USB Selective Suspend Setting: Enabled
PCI Express Link State Power Management: Off

    Processor Power Management
    • Maximum Processor Frequency: 0MHz
    • Minimum Processor State: 100%
    • System Cooling Policy: Active
    • Maximum Processor State: 100%

I believe the Power settings are mostly the generic High Performance. If I changed anything it was the sleep function as I often access this computer when I'm at home.

As for staying with my old computer. I agree, I definitely could have, but it had been 3 years since I last built that system so I figured it was time to step it up. I also use the Creative Cloud often and my system could use a boost in speed. Plus the old components are now in a second tower and being used for offloading things to free up this computer for recording (such as rendering video, etc).

I plan to add 32GB more to the RAM over the next two months and a new 1080ti video card. Someone also told me adding an internal Soundcard might help as well, although I don't see what it has to do with this latency issue.

    Thanks again,

    Brad

High DPC Latency caused by wdf01000.sys

    Hello,

I am posting this regarding a problem that I ran across in my laptop at the beginning of august 2019, the problem is that I am getting high DPC Latency levels that are apparently caused by wdf01000.sys according to the latency checking
    program, latencymon.

I really want to know if there is a fix since I have browsed a wide range of sites trying to find a fix, I could not find any. And also my keyboard stopped working for some reason, if its ok I would like to find a fix for that, but
I prioritize fixing the high latency over the keyboard.

Thank you for taking your time to read this.
