  1. strange characters on display full & partial characters, can't load/run any program

I have a AMD RZEN 24 tower 690-0024 solely used for Flight Simulator, no mail. Etc.

I powered It up one day to a Chinese option screen, finally got back to US menu. However the characters were very large, running off screen , and very difficult to invoke because the results were partially off screen and unable to retrieve.

When a thumb drive is inserted, the system see’s it but since I cannot display the results in the C drive, I’m not sure it really loaded. My guess is that it is not.

A check with HP indicates that there are updates that haven’t been downloaded, but the system ran at one point as is. I would download the updates but I can’t get see the screen’s to do that, and I couldn’t tell if they had been loaded.

In short, I’m dead in the water, I can’t see a “normal” screen, can’t tell what programs are loaded, can’t invoke anything. I just see displays as above. My goal is to return to the display of the C drive where all programs are visible, etc.

I tried to load DBAN from a USB drive, apparently it it had no effect even thou the neon in the thumb drive lite up as though it was reading from it.

I just see displays as above and cannot clear them..

    I would appreciate your thoughts.

Windows 10 v1803 cannot copy paste Chinese characters

    I don't know why, It's strange!!!

    1. Every time I restarted my PC. Open a Notepad, input some Chinese characters with some English characters. Then, copy and paste them in Notepad, find that only English characters are copied while Chinese characters are lost. Then open the Microsoft Word
2016, the situation is the same, copy paste will lost non-English characters.

    2. I tried following step, then the Windows 10 can copy and paste Chinese characters.

    • Press the 'Windows + R' keys together
    • In the 'Open' window input 'WinWord /a', and press Enter.
Then the Microsoft Word was opened. I input some Chinese characters with some English characters, and then copy and paste them, found that Chinese characters can be copied!!! Then I closed Word, opened the Notepad again, inputted some
Chinese characters with some English characters, found that Chinese characters also could be copied in Notepad!!!

    I don't know why, It's so strange!!!

Strange characters on Windows 10 desktop

My Windows 10 PC now displays strange unreadable block characters on the desktop and all the app. The only place that is not affected is the Settings.

This happened last night due to a Windows Defender update.

I can't do anything on the computer as I cannot read any characters on any windows, including the Explorer and other services.

What can I do to restore the display?

    Character Map

    Hi Susan,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

To have better clarity on the issue, answer the below listed questions and get back to us.

    1. Did you make any changes to the PC prior to this issue?
    2. Does this issue occur on Microsoft Edge, Internet Explorer, or any other browser?
    3. Once the text disappears, are you able to undo that by press the 'Ctrl' key and the 'Z' key from your keyboard?

Meanwhile, try the below troubleshooting steps:

Method 1: Check if your Windows is Up-to-date.

Go to Settings > Update and Security >
Windows Updates and install all the Windows Updates if there are any.

Method 2: Use a different browser

Use a different browser to access Gmail and see if you are facing the same issue.

Method 3: Adding the characters manually from Character Map.

    Step 1: Click on the
Start Menu and search for Character Map and hit
    Enter.

    Step 2: Once the
Character Map launches, look for the character that you want to add >
Select that character and click on Copy.

Step 3: Go to the email that
you want to add the character and paste the character by pressing the ‘Windows’ key and the ‘V’ key from your keyboard and see if the characters are disappearing.

    Hope it helps.
