Windows 10: Strange cumulative update installation process.

Hello. I am using an Acer Nitro 5 AN515-57-534E laptop with windows 11 21h2. I have a question about the cumulative update installation process. I will describe it in detail. So, I download the cumulative update from windows update and start rebooting to install. I get a black screen with a percentage of the installation progress. When the installation percentage gets to about 50 or 60 percent, the laptop suddenly reboots and my welcome window appears. But then the welcome screen disappears and the screen suddenly appears again with the installation process which goes from 50-60 to 100 almost

Microsoft controversially brings cumulative updates to W7 & W8.1

A large chunk of every update, when packaged internally, has to do with discovering the update, preparing for a rollback, and code to install the update. When you take that waste and spread it over 10+ updates, the update process is very inefficient with the only advantage being that IT professionals can be selective about updates.

I welcome cumulative updates because it vastly simplifies the update process. Updating Windows 7 especially is tedious from a clean SP1 install. It's curious that they are doing this though because the platform is being transitioned to life support soon. I think rollup updates are sufficient.

 

Cumulative Update for Windows 10 for x64-based Systems (KB3156387) will not install

Anyone else having problems getting the Cumulative Update for Windows 10 for x64-based Systems (KB3156387) installed? This update has been failing for me & doing a failed to update after downloading & reboot, then rebooting & removing the update.

V 10.0 build 10240

 

Cumulative Update KB3124200 will not install

To stop the insane cycle of install/fail/install/fail ... for the cumulative 'fix' I deleted the fix from the list of installed fixes on the computer which was having this problem. Since then, I have not re-encountered the insane cycle. I don't know whether
or not I've merely postponed the problem, ignored the problem, or avoided the problem, but it's no longer plaguing every single boot of that machine.

To uninstall the cumulative update, I went to Settings->Windows Update->Advanced Options->View Update History->Uninstall Updates, selected the update from the list, and executed the uninstall process.
